Flight Training

Come to Benson to learn to fly.  We offer Private Pilot, Commercial, and Instrument flight training.  Our Piper Cherokee provides an excellent platform for the student pilot.

Tailwheel Training

Whether you're a backcountry veteran or just tailwheel curious, flying the Citabria delivers the thrill you're looking for.  The Citabria is unadulterated aviation fun. This little tube-and-fabric two seater will restore that thrill that you last felt on your first solo. Tailwheel training is close to learning to land all over again. The Citabria is as docile as conventional gear gets with its unrestricted visibility and plenty of rudder authority. A morning of three bounces and go around, persistence is eventually rewarded with that smoother than imaginable greaser wheel landing. 

Aerobatic Training

Then there's aerobatics. The Citabria is a capable and forgiving acro trainer. A shallow dive to bring it up to maneuvering speed and stick all the way to one side and watch the world go around....seems so natural you'll want to do it over and over again. Dive for more speed, 140 now, and an easy 3g pull on the stick and you're climbing through vertical, tip your head back to see the ground through the skylight, and then you're floating flat on your back tipping down the backside of a loop, pulling back the throttle and load it up again to complete. How about a hammerhead. Dive for speed, seems wrong to be pointing an airplane at the ground like that, then pull to vertical watching the horizon out the side and letting the airspeed go to zero, kick the rudder with a measure of forward stick and it pivots gracefully round to nose down. Spins and snap rolls too. You can do all that in one lesson or several.  WE DO SPIN ENDORESEMENTS for Instructor Students.
